URES, our town This village was founded by the Jesuit Francisco París in 1636. It's located just 50 miles from Hermosillo; its also known as the "forgotten Athens", not only because once this was the political capital of the state, but because many leaders of our history and culture have been born here.
Ures has many interesting spots, like the main square, the the Historical San Miguel Mission and Church, the Great Independence Arch, The Mills and the House Museum of General Pesqueira.

During winter you can enjoy the delicious candy called "piloncillo". Just 30 miles north, Aconchi was founded in 1639 by the Jesuit Bartolomé Castaños, who dedicated this historical Mission to Saint Peter.
A 45 kilómetros de Ures está Aconchi, misión fundada en 1639 por el jesuita Bartolomé Castaños, quien la dedicó a San Pedro. Here you can visit the Francisican Church that has a mystical black Crist. If you feel like you need a relaxing moment, visit the worldly known Thermal Waters just 2 miles from the village. Aconchi is well known by its chitepin (the spiciest), chile colorado (long red chile), and by its talented furniture makers. |
